Alprazolam

Alprazolam, is an organic compound with the formula C17H13ClN4, mainly used for the treatment of anxiety, depression, insomnia, can be used as an anti-panic drug, but also can relieve acute alcohol withdrawal symptoms, can also have a good therapeutic effect on drug-induced intractable hiccups.

Pharmacological action

This product is a new BDZ class drug, with similar pharmacological effects as diazepam, with anxiolytic, antidepressant, sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant effects. Its anxiolytic effect is 10 times stronger than diazepam, and the mechanism of action may be related to β-adrenergic receptors in the brain. The oral absorption of this product is rapid and complete, and the peak plasma concentration can be reached in 1 to 2 hours, the plasma half-life is 12 to 18 hours, and the plasma concentration reaches a steady state in 2 to 3 days. Plasma protein binding is about 80%. After absorption, it is distributed throughout the body and can penetrate the placental barrier, and there are drugs in the milk. It was metabolized by the liver CYP3A enzyme system to the active substance α-hydroxytriazole, but the concentration was too low and had no clinical significance. Finally, it is excreted from the kidneys, the accumulation in the body is very small, and it is quickly removed after stopping the drug.
