Methylamine has a wide range of industrial uses. Monomethylamine can be used as a raw material for medicine (activation, caffeine, ephedrine, etc.), pesticides (carbaryl, dimethoate, amidine, etc.), dyes (alizarin intermediates, anthraquinone intermediates, etc.), explosives and fuels (hydroglue explosives, monomethylhydrazine, etc.), surfactants, accelerators, rubber additives, photographic chemicals and solvents.
Production methods and others: Industrially, methylamine is synthesized by methanol and ammonia at high temperature through a converter equipped with an active alumina catalyst from time to time, but the methylation reaction does not stop at the monomethylamine stage, so the mixture of monomethylamine, dimethylamine and trimethylamine obtained. Control the ratio of methanol and ammonia, make ammonia excessive, and add water and circulate trimethylamine is conducive to the generation of monomethylamine and dimethylamine, when the amount of ammonia is 2.5 times that of methanol, the reaction temperature is 425 °C, and the reaction pressure is 2.45MPa, monomethylamine 10-12%, dimethylamine 8-9%, trimethylamine 11-13% mixed amine can be obtained. Since trimethylamine forms azeotrope with ammonia and other methylamines at atmospheric pressure, the reaction products are separated by a combination of pressure distillation and extractive distillation. Based on the production of 1t of mixed methylamine, 1500kg of methanol and 500kg of liquid ammonia need to be consumed. According to the relevant literature, changing the ratio of methanol and ammonia is an effective way to obtain the desired product, the ratio of methanol and ammonia is 1:1.5 is the best condition for the formation of trimethylamine, and the ratio of methanol and ammonia is 1:4 is the best condition for the generation of monomethylamine.
